Upgrading from one version of ProPresenter to another version is made simple by the Import from Previous Version ability in ProPresenter, but what if you are trying to upgrade AND move computers at the same time? This adds a few steps for you, but it should be a quick and easy process.

Step 1

The first step is to migrate all of your information from the originating computer to the new computer. In order to do this you will need the same "older" version of ProPresenter on the new computer as you have on the originating computer. Head over to our download page and scroll to the bottom of the page (look for "Version History"). Download and install the latest version of the version of ProPresenter that is on the originating computer. When you open this version on the new computer, if you have no plans on using this older version of ProPresenter on the new computer past this import process then there is no need to type in your registration information. Just click on "Demo" or "Try It" when the registration window pops up.

Now follow the steps in this Knowledge Base article to transfer the files from the originating computer to the new computer. Come back here when you are done!

Step 2

Now that all of your data is on the new computer but in an older version of ProPresenter, open the new version of ProPresenter (or install it if it isn't already installed). If this is your first time opening it on the new computer then it should welcome you to import the data from a previous version. If you don't see a prompt asking you if you want to import, then go to File > Import > Import from Previous Version. You should now see your library from the previous version and can import it into the newer version.

Note that there are some items that don't transfer throughout this process, mainly:

  • Preferences
  • Bibles
  • Registration Information
  • Module Registration Information
  • Some media files (depending on your settings prior to this process)

These items may need to be manually installed or inserted into the program.
