If you are upgrading from ProPresenter 3 to ProPresenter 4 or ProPresenter 5 for Mac you can import your Pro3 library and media. To access this option, click on the File menu, select Import and then click on Import ProPresenter 3... from the import menu. If you have ProPresenter 5 installed, you will also see an option to import Pro4 here.
There are two import methods for ProPresenter 3 files. You can choose the Basic option which will import everything in the options you select. These options include Presentations, Backgounds, and Audio. Generally this is the setting you will want to use. Click on the Import button to start this process. This may take a while depending on how many files you have in ProPresenter 3.
The second import option is the Advanced option. This method allows you to import specific songs, media, or playlists if you don't need everything to import. You can also choose to have these files imported into your Library, the current playlist, or a new playlist.
If you experience any issues while importing it is likely due to a corrupted file in ProPresenter 3. The reason we switched from a single database file for the library in Pro 3 to individual documents in Pro 4 and Pro 5 was because the library in Pro 3 was less stable. If part of your Pro3 library was imported before causing the import to freeze, locate that spot in your library and delete the next song from Pro 3. This will be the song that the import got stuck on. You can also verify this song is the issue by using the Advanced import option and selecting that specific song. You may need to repeat this process multiple times. We suggest deleting all the songs that have already imported to ProPresenter from Pro 3 so that you don't end up with duplicates in your library. You may want to only import presentations at first and then do media and audio together after you have your library files in place to speed this process up if you end up having to troubleshoot.
If you are installing a newer version of ProPresenter on a different Mac and want to import your Pro3 files we recommend installing the demo version of it on the same computer as Pro 3 and importing your presentation and then moving them to the new computer. Due to how Pro 3 stores files and how the import process works, it is a complicated process to move your Pro3 files to a new computer first and then import.
This option is only available for ProPresenter 4 or ProPresenter 5 for Mac. If you are moving from ProPresenter 3 to ProPresenter 4 or ProPresenter 5 on Windows, you will need to first import into a newer version of ProPresenter on your Mac using the demo or a licensed version, or export your Pro 3 library as a text file for import.
