ProPresenter7: As of the release of ProPresenter 7.4, we recommend taking caution in updating production critical machines to macOS 11 (Big Sur) however, there are no known program issues at this time. The same is true for newer Mac machines running with Apple Silicon processors. You may see problems arise with peripheral hardware such as BlackMagic products which are widely used with our software programs. (The Blackmagic Mini Monitor and Mini Recorder Thunderbolt 2 devices require 11.5.1 of Blackmagic Desktop Video which is NOT compatible with Big Sur)
NDI is not an available option for input or output with Apple Silicon processors and this is further explained on our page here.
At the time this has been written (December 16, 2020), Blackmagic Design DeckLink/UltraStudio products do have newer drivers for OS Big Sur and Apple Silicon and our team is working to test their compatibility at this time. If you do update to the new OS or Apple Silicon, you will need to be on Desktop Video 11.7 or higher for Big Sur and 12.0 or higher for Apple Silicon processors.
ProPresenter6: This version is no longer in active development. It will not receive any update to support Big Sur or Apple Silicon and issues will arise if used on Big Sur or Apple Silicon. You'll want to keep this mission-critical software on an OS that supports it.
PVP3: An update to PVP3 is currently being worked on that will bring many performance improvements as well as support for both Catalina & Big Sur. We recommend waiting until the beta for this is available before upgrading your OS. We also hope to share more information soon on PVP3 and Apple Silicon.
PVS and ProPresenter Scoreboard: The team is in the beginning stages of making these softwares compatible with Big Sur and Apple Silicon. Currently we recommend waiting before updating to Big Sur or purchasing an Apple Silicon machine until new updates are released.
We will update this article when more information on compatibility for our products is available.
