Below are some of the common questions that we receive about the Dongle Registration of PVP. For generic information about how to use the feature please see this article.
What if I don't see the option to select a Volume while registering PVP?
Dongle Registration is available in PVP 3.2 and later. If you are not seeing the ability to select your Volume then please make sure you have the latest version of PVP. You can Check For Updates within the application or download the latest version here.
What drive formats do you support?
We have tested and support the following drive formats:
- FAT32
- Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
- APFS (including case-sensitive & encrypted)
What USB devices do you support?
PVP is designed to see any volume attached to the computer; this means that almost any drive that the computer can see as an external drive, PVP can save the registration to.
One requirement is that the USB device must have a unique UUID (a property of the device that is not accessible by the user). The vast majority of devices will have this, however, we have found a very small number of devices that did not have this property and thus could not have the registration information saved to it.
How will the registration data be stored on the drive?
If you register PVP onto a dongle then it will create a folder on the root of the drive called RenewedVision; this folder is used to store the registration information. It is important to leave this folder where it is and to not delete this folder, as doing so would delete your activation code.
What if I accidentally delete the Renewed Vision folder?
If you delete the Renewed Vision folder (or any of the folders within that folder) then you will need to email our Customer Service department and request that we reset your registration data on our servers; after that you can re-regsiter like normal.
Can I have other data on the drive?
Yes, you can use the dongle as a normal USB device to store any files that you would like; as long as you leave the RenewedVision folder at the root of the device you can use the device like normal.
How much space will be taken up on the drive?
A very small amount (usually no more than 10 kb).
What if I don't have internet access when I register PVP?
Without an internet connection, PVP will register for three days. You will need to connect to the internet within those three days or PVP will default to putting the watermark on the screens. If you registered PVP with no internet, then simply have PVP open when you have internet access and it will automatically validate.
