Useful keyboard shortcuts for ProPresenter 6

This article deals with our legacy product, ProPresenter 6. For the ProPresenter 7 Knowledge Base, click HERE.

Overview

Once you learn a few keyboard shortcuts, you'll find yourself moving around ProPresenter much faster. The majority of shortcuts are listed in the menus at the top of the screen, but there are a handful that are easy to memorize and will speed up your workflow dramatically. The shortcuts below are listed as Mac first and Windows second.

Below we have arranged the most common keyboard shortcuts as well as an explanation about how they work. To see a full list of all keyboard shortcuts click here.

The Basics

Command-A (Mac) or Control-A (Windows): This shortcut selects everything in whichever window you're currently in.

Command-C or Control-C: This is the universal shortcut for copy. If you want to copy a slide or a piece of media in the Video/Image Bin, you need to make sure it's outlined in blue first. To do this, Command-click (Mac) or Control-Click (Windows).

Command-V or Control-V: This is the universal shortcut for paste. After you have copied something, you probably want to paste it somewhere. If you are copying a slide or media cue and want to paste it in a specific spot, Command/Control-click on the slide you want to paste it after. With the slide outlined in blue, use the paste command. If you don't select a specific cue to paste after, it will just go to the end of the presentation.

Command-Option-Shift-V or Control-Option-Shift-V: This is called "Paste and Match Style". If you have a piece of text that is copied from elsewhere (say, the internet) and you want to paste it into a text box WITHOUT the formatting that it had with it before, use this key combination to strip the formatting from the text before you paste it.

Command-Shift-D or Control-Shift-D: This duplicates the current slide. Again, Command/Control-click to select the slide first. This works for slides or media elements in the bins.

Quickly access features

Control-E or Alt-E: Quickly open the Editor for the selected document.

Command-L or Control-L: This jumps to the current document in your Library. If you have a song selected in a playlist or you have scrolled away from the song selected in the Library, this shortcut highlights it for you.

Option-B or Alt-B: This opens up Bibles.

Option-R or Alt-R: This opens up the Reflow Editor.

Command-comma or Control-comma: Quickly open Preferences.

Output and Stage Display

Command-1 or Control-1: Toggles the main output on and off on the assigned display. Ever open ProPresenter and your screen is black? You can use this shortcut to fix that.

Command-2 or Control-2: This toggles the Stage Display output on and off.

Command-0 or Control-0 (using the zero key): This toggles the Stage Display Only mode on and off. You can use this if you need to show slides on the Stage Display but not to your audience. You can still click on media in the Video/Image Bin and have it show on the main audience screen while this is enabled.

Command-3 or Control-3: This toggles your preview screen in ProPresenter between the Output and Stage Display. This is great if you need to check that you have the right layout being sent to your Stage Display or that a Stage Display Message is showing up properly.

Secret Shortcuts

There are a few shortcuts that don't show up in the program in any of the menus. These are included in the user guide and will make you look like a magician to anyone watching over your shoulder to anyone who hasn't read the entire guide.

Command-Control-S: This will save your Bible search as a new document. This shortcut hasn't been implemented yet for the Windows version, so that shortcut will be listed here later. You need to click on a slide in your Bible search results and then you can use this shortcut to save the slides as a new document.

Option-New Slide: Select a slide (blue outline again), then hold the Option key while you click the new slide (+) button in the lower left corner of the slide view or Editor. It will add a new slide in front of the selected slide. Clicking the button without holding the key down adds a slide after the selected slide.
