Screen Configuration in ProPresenter

To Configure Screens in ProPresenter, you will click on "Screens" in the menu bar and click on “Configure Screens” to set up your outputs. You can also access this via the shortcut Option-Command-1 on Mac.

From this configuration window, you’ll see some different terms: "Audience" refers to all crowd-facing screens and "Stage" refers to screens typically seen by those on stage or producing the program.

Clicking on the plus ("+") sign next to either screen type allows you to see the various output options available to send your content to.  This includes any system connected outputs, virtual NDI outputs, SDI outputs (provided SDI hardware is connected), Syphon outputs (on Mac only) and Placeholder options.  The Placeholder option is useful if you are setting up your presentations off-site or on a separate computer, but know the screen resolution and configuration you’ll be using for your show.  Options to set up a Grouped, Mirrored or Edge Blended screen are also available here.

There are four types of screens you can create in ProPresenter.

  1. Single -- Selecting Single will have ProPresenter render one Screen that will be sent to one Output. This is the standard option that you'll wish to use in most installations.
  2. Mirror -- Selecting Mirror allows you to send one Screen to multiple Outputs. Each mirrored Output will be shown as a separate box in the center of the window. Click on a box to select it to control its properties. The Primary Output will be the leftmost Output that is shown. In the upper right corner of the Configure window, you can select the number of mirrored Outputs you are seeing.
  3. Grouped -- If you want for ProPresenter to output one Screen to a grid of multiple Outputs then you would select Grouped. The classic example of this would be a wall of TVs with one image stretched across all of the TVs.
  4. Edge Blend -- The Edge Blend option is perfect if you will be using multiple projectors with their edges blended to create a larger, seamless image.  More information on this is available in the KnowledgeBase here.

The Hardware tab in the Configuration window is where you'll be able to set your device and resolution you're using to send the Screen signal to.  Click the dropdown menu under Output to select which device and resolution you will be sending the signal to.

Below the dropdown, it will show information about the Output; which information is shown depends on what type of Output you have selected, but it may have information such as Name and Resolution. Similarly, depending on what type of output you are using, you may be able to change some of these options, such as its Name.

Once you setup your screens, you can use Looks to change what content each Screen shows.  More information on this can be found in our KnowledgeBase here.

If you are having issues with performance on your screens, you can see some performance stats on your screens by navigating to the Screens Tab of Settings and toggling on "Show Performance Statistics On Screen". This will show some words and numbers on your screen that shows the internal frame rate and the frame rate on the actual output. Since this does show some words on your screen, you will want to turn that off before presenting to an audience.
