ProPresenter's output is made up of 8 fixed layers. These layers can trigger slide content, media content, as well as other various generated content in ProPresenter to different Audience Screens, or create a stacked look on a single Audience Screen. These Layers are controlled in the Looks window, found in Screens>Edit Looks from the Menu bar. More information on that, can be found in the Audience Looks Article.
The Layers are explained below.
-
Mask layer: This layer is used to mask parts of the presentation, creating a custom shape or transparent areas.
- Messages: This layer is used to quickly send text or timers to the output.
- Props: This layer is used to display content such as 'bugs' in a corner of the output, but anything that can be added to a slide can be shown anywhere on screen.
- Announcements: This layer is used to display announcements or any secondary presentation to a secondary Audience Display
- Slide layer: This layer displays text elements, such as lyrics, Bible verses, or announcements. This is anything that is considered a Slide Element.
- Slide Background Color: This consists of the background image or color of your slide.
- Presentation Background Color: This consists of the background image or color of each slide within your Presentation.
-
Media layer: This layer displays media actions, such as images, videos triggered from the media bin, or a media action within a presentation.
- Video Input layer: This layer is used to present any live video inputs within ProPresenter to your Audience Screen
- Screen Color: This is the very bottom layer and is determined by the color set in the Screens>Configure Screens window for that specific Audience Screen.
- If a slide has a BACKGROUND Media Action and the Slide/Presentation Background Colors are DISABLED, then the Media will show on the output as well as in Canvas and thumbnails.
- If a slide has a BACKGROUND Media Action and the Slide/Presentation Background Colors are ENABLED, then the Background Colors show over Media on the output as well as in Canvas and thumbnails.
- If a slide has a FOREGROUND Media Action and the Slide/Presentation Background Colors are DISABLED, then the Media shows on the output as well as in Canvas and thumbnails.
- If a slide has a FOREGROUND Media Action and the Slide/Presentation Background Colors are ENABLED, then the Media will still show on the output as well as in Canvas and thumbnails.
Should you see content not showing how you'd expect, you will need to check each of the following:
- Figure out if you have a Slide/Presentation Background Color enabled and then disable it.
- Disable the Background Color in your view options at the bottom right corner of your Presentation Detail View. This is done within the Show View.
- Select "Ignore Background Colors" from the Screens tab of ProPresenter Preferences
- Convert Media to Foreground instead of Background.
- Convert Media to Slide Object.
You can disable Background Colors in the Editor, by right clicking on a slide that has a Background Color enabled, and in the "Presentation" tab of the Editor, uncheck "Background", or by unchecking "Background" in the Slide tab of the Editor.
