All media in ProPresenter supports four different scaling options: Scale to Fit, Scale to Fill, Stretch to Fill, and Scale + Blur. The article below goes through the differences between these options, and the many ways you can set the scaling option for your media items.
- Scale to Fit will make sure that all of your content shows within the bounds of a given Object and the media won’t be stretched; it will achieve this by adding black bars on the top/bottom or sides of the media as needed.
- Scale to Fill will keep your media not stretched and it won’t have any black around the sides or top/bottom; it will achieve this by cropping off the top/bottom or sides as needed.
- Stretch to Fill will fill the bounds of the Object with the media and it won’t crop any of the media out; it will achieve this by stretching the media as needed.
- Scale + Blur will blur the background of a Media item with a differing resolution from the output.
To select the scaling option for Media cues in the Media Bin and Media Actions, you will right click on the media thumbnail, open the Inspector, and select the Properties tab. You will select the Scaling drop down menu and choose your desired scaling option.
For images added to the Media Bin, you can add the scaling option through the Scaling section of the Media Bin context menu. To select this option, right click on the media item in the Media Bin, and choose your desired scaling option from the menu.
Users also have the ability to set this scale option as the Import Setting for Foreground and Background. By default, Backgrounds use Stretch to Fill and Foregrounds use Scale to Fit. To change this setting, go to the top right menu and select ProPresenter > Preferences (Settings, if on macOS Ventura or higher) > Import. Under the Scaling header, click the drop down for Foreground or Background, and select the desired scaling option.
For Media Fills and Media Slide Objects, this Scaling setting will be able to be set from the Editor, as well as the Media Inspector. To change the scaling from the Editor, you will select the media object on the canvas and make sure the Shape tab is selected in the right hand panel. In the Fill section, click the Scaling drop down and choose the appropriate option.
