Syncing Between Computers with ProPresenter

In ProPresenter, you can sync two or more computers over a local network through the local sync option. To access this, go to the Sync tab of the ProPresenter Settings.

You can also export individual presentations or entire playlists instead of syncing all data by selecting the presentation or playlist and using the File Menu->Export->Presentation, Presentation Bundle, or Playlist and choose the location to save the exported file. A Presentation file will only contain the slide information, not any media while the Presentation Bundle will contain the media. You can choose whether or not to include media in the playlist export as you are choosing the location to save the playlist.

Before doing anything here, you will need to create a folder that will serve as your repository. This location will be what you are syncing your data “up” to. This location can be on an external hard drive or flash drive or it can be inside of a shared network folder that all the computers can access. Name this folder “ProPresenter Sync” or something similar. Once you have created this folder, go back to the sync tab of ProPresenter preferences.

DropBox, Google Drive, OneDrive cloud services may work, but there may be settings in these apps that prevent this from working properly. Our Support team is unable to provide support for these services, but can assist with the ProPresenter side of Syncing. Should you see any error in syncing, adjust your repository to be on the Desktop and Sync. Should this sync work as expected, you will need to make adjustments to your cloud service sync.

In the Sync tab of ProPresenter Settings, click the + icon and select the folder you have just created to serve as your repository. Then, select the options that you want to sync up to the repository by checking the box next to them.

Libraries: With this option checked, all presentations in your libraries will sync

Media: With this option checked, all linked media in presentations, playlists, and the media bin will sync.

Playlists: With this option checked, all library playlists and media bin playlists will sync (media must be enabled for the media itself to sync)

Themes: With this option checked, all themes will sync

Support Files: With this option checked, all configuration files including screen configuration, looks, props, messages, timers, macros, etc will sync

Finally, make sure that “Sync up to repository” is selected. For this first sync, “Replace My Files” can be unchecked.

Once you have completed these steps, click “Sync”.

Once the sync, finishes, move to the computer you are wanting to sync with and open the Sync tab of ProPresenter Settings there. On this computer, click the + icon to choose the repository you have just synced up to on the other computer, select the options you want to sync, click “Sync Down From Repository”, and if you want files on this computer to be replaced by the files on the other computer, check the box for “Replace My Files”. Then, you can click sync!

Note: “Replace My Files” WILL DELETE any presentations or media files on your computer or from the repository. Unchecking "Replace My Files" will only replace presentations or media files that are named the same thing on this computer with the files coming down from the repository. For example: If you have a file named “Amazing Grace” on this computer and one named the same in the repository, the one on this computer will be replaced with the one in the repository. If you want a file deleted from all of your synced computers, you will manually have to delete it both from the computer(s) and the repository folder.
