Blackmagic Desktop Video is the driver that allows your Blackmagic video device (DeckLink and UltraStudio Devices) to input or output to or from your computer. These drivers do not automatically update, but from time to time we update how our software interacts with them to utilize new or more stable capabilities which will require you to update these drivers. Below are the steps to download and install a new version of the drivers.

1) Preparation
Quit ProPresenter/ProVideoPlayer/ProScoreboard and any apps using your Blackmagic device
Disconnect Thunderbolt/USB devices if possible.
Make sure you’re logged in as an administrator.
2) Download the latest Desktop Video for Windows
Go to Blackmagic’s Support Center.
Under Latest Downloads, select Desktop Video for Windows.
Click Download Only if you don’t want to fill in the registration form.
3) Uninstall the old version (recommended for clean installs)
Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
Locate Blackmagic Desktop Video.
Click the … menu → Uninstall → confirm.
Restart Windows.
4) Install the new version
Run the downloaded installer (
DesktopVideo_x.x.x.msi
).Follow the wizard prompts.

When asked, approve the installation of Blackmagic Design drivers.
Windows may show a “Windows can’t verify the publisher” or “Do you want to allow this app to make changes?” → click Yes or Install.
When the install finishes, restart your computer.
5) Reconnect and allow the device
Plug in your Blackmagic device after restart.

Windows should detect the hardware and apply the updated driver.
If you see a pop-up asking to trust Blackmagic Design drivers, select Install this driver software anyway.

To confirm:
Right-click Start → Device Manager.
Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
Your device (UltraStudio, DeckLink, Intensity, etc.) should appear.
6) Verify the installation
Open Desktop Video Setup (installed with the package).
Check the About section to confirm the Desktop Video version.
Confirm your hardware is listed and shows as Connected/Active.
Notes & Tips
Always restart after driver installation—Windows won’t load the capture/playback drivers correctly until you do.
If you run multiple Blackmagic apps (like ATEM Software Control or Resolve), updating Desktop Video keeps them in sync with device firmware.
