Themes in ProPresenter

Overview

Themes are a quick way to format your Presentations within ProPresenter. They can be applied to individual slides, entire presentations, or entire libraries with just a few clicks. Using Themes within ProPresenter can take your prep time within ProPresenter down drastically.

Creating Themes

To create a theme, choose More... from the toolbar, and then select Theme Editor. Inside the Theme Editor, you can adjust currently created themes, or create a brand new theme. On the left hand side of the Theme Editor, you should see all Theme Slides within the theme in the Slide Navigator.

On the top left of the Slide Navigator, you can select the Theme you want to adjust, and then select from a Theme Slide inside that theme. Choosing the "+" button immediately to the right of the theme selector, you can add a new Theme Slide within your theme. In the Slide Navigator, you can also right click on these Theme Slide to get other options like renaming, duplicating, deleting, copying or pasting, etc.

Under the Slide Navigator, you can see the Object List and this is where you can choose the "Z-Order" of slide objects on a specific Theme. This is a draggable list, so you can click and drag to reorder.

The center area of the Theme Editor will show the Canvas. The Canvas is where you can add content to your Theme to apply to Presentation slides. You can move things 'out of view' of the Canvas and they will still apply with the Theme, but nothing will show on the output, unless it exists on the Canvas.

The right side of the Theme Editor is the Inspector. This is contextual, based on what is selected. If nothing is selected, it shows the attributes of the Theme Slide, which contains things like Theme Size, Background Color, and starting in 7.11, you can add Media Actions to Themes. If you select anything in the Object List, or click on something on the Canvas, you can see that the Inspector changes based on what you have selected. For example, you can select on a text box, and it shows the font attributes, much like you'd see in the Presentation Editor. You can also choose items for Builds, or Shape properties.

Applying Themes to a Presentation

Once you have a theme created, you can then apply these to Presentations in your Library. To do this, simply single click on a Presentation in the Library, and then choose the Theme from the Theme selector from the Toolbar. You can also right click on individual slides within a Presentation, and apply a theme to a single slide, or a range of slides by selecting them. In the Theme Selector, you can enable and disable Media Actions when applying themes with the image icon at the top right of the Theme Selector.

Applying Themes in Bibles

You can also Apply themes to Bible searches as well from within the Bible View. To access this menu, choose "Options>Slide Options" from the top right of the Bible View, and choose a Theme from this menu. Once you have a Theme selected, you can choose which slide object you want the Verse, as well as the Reference to show up in by clicking the dropdown next to the version of the Bible you are viewing.

If the Verse and Reference are set to "None", no slides will populate in your search

Applying Themes to Screens in Looks

In ProPresenter, applying a Theme to a screen in Screens > Edit Looks lets you reformat slide text on-the-fly for specific outputs without modifying your original presentation slides. This is great for getting Lyrics and Text formatted for lower thirds, while keeping your main screen unchanged.

  • To Apply: Open Screens > Edit Looks, choose your Look preset on the left, select the Theme dropdown on the column for the screen you want to change, and pick a slide template.
  • To Switch on the Fly: Create multiple Looks with different assigned themes, then trigger them throughout your service using slide actions, manual clicks, or Macros.
  • To Clear: Open Screens > Edit Looks, click the Theme box assigned to your display, and click Remove Alternate Theme at the bottom of the window to revert to default slide formatting.

You can rename or delete a theme by clicking on the Theme button in the toolbar, then right-clicking on the theme choosing "Rename Theme" or "Delete Theme".
