ProPresenter 7 is able to be controlled by a lighting console via DMX or Art-Net, just like any other lighting fixture. We do not currently support sACN.
Click the + and select DMX. You will see the DMX settings next.
From this screen you can manage all the settings for your DMX device. You can change the name from DMX to something else if you want to. If you want ProPresenter to reconnect to your console, select the Auto Reconnect option. You likely won't need to change the Hardware option. and there are no options for Behavior. Currently DMX is one-way, and can only receive commands from a console.
The Via and Address settings should be set to the correct network adapter that you need to use in order to connect ProPresenter to your lighting console. This may require some additional network configuration that is beyond the scope of our support documents. The Port will be filled in automatically based on the Art-Net settings.
The Art-Net settings will need to match what is configured in your lighting console or software. We use a program called DMX Assistant for testing. As you can see in the screenshot below, the settings that have been selected in that app are also selected in ProPresenter.
Once you have all of your settings configured, click the Back button. Click on the Connect button (it will switch to Disconnect, as shown below) and a green line will appear next to the Device to confirm a successful connection. You will need to disconnect the device in order to change any settings.
Click on the DMX Map button to see the list of DMX channels and values that control everything in ProPresenter. You can change the base address in order to place the ProPresenter 7 fixture wherever you need it. You can use any address from 1 through 499.
This chart shows all of the available values. You will find some examples of how to program your console to send commands to ProPresenter below this list. The Channel number will be based on the Base Address you enter.

Here are some common scenarios that you might need to trigger with DMX.
You have 10 playlists available and you want to select the 3rd one. You then want to select the 5th item in that playlist, which happens to be a video cue.
To select the third playlist you will send 1 @ 3. To select the fifth item in the playlist you will send 2 @ 5. And to select the cue you will send 5 @ 1. You can send these sequentially or simultaneously depending on your console/software and preference.
You have selected a song in the playlist and you want to advance through the slides.
To trigger the next slide, you will send 14 @ 61.
Something isn't correct on screen and you need to clear everything, using Clear All.
To send a Clear All command, you will send 14 @ 1. You can use any value from 1 through 5 for the same result.
You want to play two videos in your Media Bin that are in the fourth playlist. Three videos are in the same playlist and you want to play the first and third one.
To select the fourth Media Bin playlist, you will send 3 @ 4. To select the first Media Cue, you will send 6 @ 1. To select the second media cue you will send 6 @ 2. As long as you don't change the playlist you don't need to resend the first cue to select the playlist.
- When using DMX to select a playlist, there is currently not a way to select a playlist within a folder. If you have Playlist - Folder - Playlist, they will be selected sequentially as 1 - 2 - 3, but you cannot access anything within the Folder. This is true for the Library, Media Bin, and Audio Bin.
- The Set Transition setting only applies to the orange global transitions, which affect slides and foregrounds. The Media Bin transition (purple) and document transitions cannot be set via DMX.
- Set Transition does not select from Favorites, only from the All list.
- Set Transition can not be used to select the direction of transitions that include a direction.
