Understanding The ProPresenter7 User Interface

Main_UI.png

One of ProPresenter’s exciting new features is a new refreshed user interface. Along with the darker tone that colors the design, there are some important changes to note from previous versions of the software.

Below, we will walk through each section of the main interface and highlight what functionality you can find there.

Toolbar

Main_Toolbar.png

The toolbar has been updated with a new cleaner look and the buttons have a fixed layout. Here are the buttons included in the toolbar along with their given function (moving from left to right).

Search - The search button will allow you to search your libraries or the SongSelect database when logged into SongSelect.

Text - The text button allows you to format the text for your selected slides adjusting the settings for font, alignment, stroke, and shadow.

Theme - The theme button allows you to apply templates and styles to your selected presentation or create new ones.

Show/Edit/Reflow/Bible/More Modes - These buttons will allow you to switch which mode is displayed. You click the button for the mode you want to work in.

    • Show is the mode where you actually run the presentation to your output.  This will show the slides themselves in either Grid View, Table View or Easy View.  You can learn more about the different View options here.
    • Edit is the standard ProPresenter Editor area where you can create and edit your slide content
    • Reflow is our Reflow Editor that allows you to edit the slide text for a presentation, but it is editing the slides in real-time.
    • Bible is our Bibles section.  You can find more information on using the Scriptures inside of the software here.
    • More is a drop-down menu that offers quick access to the other editors in the software which include the Stage Editor, Theme Editor, CCLI Editor, Props Editor, and Masks Editor.

Timers - This button opens the Timers window where you can create timers or countdowns for your Screens.

Messages - This opens the Messages window where you can create and show a Message to your Audience Screens.

Props - The Props button opens the Props window where you can create and edit Props.

Stage - This button opens the Stage message window where you can send a message specifically to your Stage Screens.

Store - The Store button will open the RV Media Store in a separate window.

Media - The Media button is used to show or hide the Media Bin.

Note:  When the “Show House of Worship Integrations” option is unchecked in the General tab of  ProPresenter Preferences you will see the Bible and Store buttons removed from the Toolbar.

Libraries/Playlists

Library_--_Playlists.png

On the left side of the updated user interface, you will see two new sections that feature your libraries and playlists. The top left area is the outline view which contains the libraries and playlists you have created. Just below that is the detail view that shows the contents of the library or playlist you have selected in the outline view. The outline view is collapsable and also features a navigation drop-down menu when it is collapsed.

You can find more information about using libraries and playlists in these related articles:

Slide View

Grid_View.png

The center section of the interface features the slides for a particular presentation or playlist that you have highlighted when in show mode. In this section, you can click to display the slide live to your screen as well as add slides, transitions, arrangements, operator notes, and timelines similar to previous versions of the software.

New to ProPresenter, you can assign a presentation to the Announcement Layer. When a presentation is assigned to display on the Announcement Layer, the presentation destination target will be green and the slide indicator will also turn green when a slide in the presentation is live.

You can find out more information about the Announcement Layer here.

Easy_View.png

The slide view can be displayed in both grid or table view as in previous versions but now there is also a third option called “easy view”. This allows you to have slide formatting for the thumbnail preview that is different from the formatting that displays to your screen.

You can find out more about Easy View here.

Media Bin

Media_Bin.png

When toggled open, the bottom section of the interface is reserved for the Media Bin. The Media Bin houses your video and image content along with any live video inputs you may have. As with previous versions, the left column of the media bin is reserved for playlists and playlist folders. There is a new dedicated playlist for your video input cues and if you download content from the RV Media Store, a Downloads playlist will appear there as well.

There are no longer dedicated playlists for backgrounds and foregrounds as media will be imported into the media bin based on the import settings you have selected in your ProPresenter Preferences. Also, each individual media cue’s behavior can be adjusted by right-clicking on the cue.

The playlist column is collapsible and also features a navigation drop-down menu when it is collapsed.

Preview Window/Clear Cues

Preview_Window.png

The most noticeable change in ProPresenter from previous versions is that the Preview window has moved to the right side of the interface. This window displays the content that is playing live to your screens and there is a drop-down menu directly below the window which allows you to switch between which screen you are viewing.

Above the preview window are the audience and stage screen indicators for any system outputs. They are red when the screen is turned off and are green when the screen is turned on. To the right of the preview window are the clear cues. First, directly to the right of the preview window, you will find the clear all cue which will clear every layer from your screen. Then to the right of the clear all cue, you will find individual clear cues for each layer. The clear cues’ stacked order is also reflective of the order the layers are stacked on your screen.

The screen layers are listed below from the top-most to bottom-most layer:

Audio
Messages
Props
Announcements
Slide
Media
Live Video

Below the Preview window is the screen drop-down indicator along with the transport controls. The transport controls allow you to see the playback of your slide and media layers. You can scrub to another point during playback and also have buttons for advancing 15 secs, going back 15 sec, and going to the end. The go-to-end button can be adjusted by right-clicking on it where you will have the option to edit for how many seconds from the end you want to jump to in the playback (-0, -10, -30, -60, -90).

The transport controls can also be toggled to see your playback controls for the Announcement and Audio Layers as well.

Audio Bin

Audio_Bin.png

In the bottom right corner of the interface, you will find the Audio Bin. The Audio Bin consists of two sections. A top playlist view and a bottom detail view which displays the audio files that are located in each playlist when selected. The playlist view is also collapsible and features a navigation drop-down menu when it is collapsed.

At the bottom of the Audio Bin are controls for searching, shuffling, and cross-fading your content.
